HEYWARD HOUSE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you’re interested in helping us as we work to improve the lives of local kids, we would love to have you on our team! There are a few ways you can get involved – read below to see if there’s a good fit for you.

If you would like more information or would like to sign up to volunteer for any of these initiatives, contact Nicole at nwilliams@theheywardhouse.org.

Literacy Week with Urban Pathways

We’re participating in Literacy Week during the first week of September at Urban Pathways in downtown Pittsburgh.

If you would like to join us in reading to the children, let us know. They love guest readers!

Blessings in a Backpack

We are proud to announce that The Heyward House is providing a backpack of food for every student at Urban Pathways Charter School to take home on the weekends throughout the entire school year.

We’re looking for volunteers to help us pack backpacks every Thursday from 5 – 6:30 pm during the school year.

Craig’s Closet

Craig’s Closet ensures that not having the “right” outfit isn’t a barrier to pursuing a dream. The program gives young men in the region access to free suits, ties, shoes, and more to wear to interviews, internships, banquets, graduation ceremonies… any occasion for which they want to look their best.

If you are interested in making a clothing donation, or volunteering (we can always use help sorting, organizing, and steaming) contact nwilliams@theheywardhouse.org.
